The country Hotel Las Calas, dating back to the 17th century, is a manor house located in the heart of the Canarian island of Gran Canaria.
The hotel is placed in a beautiful hamlet called "La Lechuza", in the midst of the municipality "La Vega de San Mateo". During its reconstruction, all elements of traditional architecture of the area have been respected.
In 1998 Magüi Carratalá began with the restoration and conversion of this house and created by this the contemporary country Hotel Las Calas. During its rehabilitation, the concept of its original architecture has been rigorously respected. Its design is probably the most important result, because you will find an achieved combination of wood and stone, geometric forms and warm, natural colours; a place, where structural classicism is combined with decorative modernity and interior details.
The country Hotel Las Calas has become a place to be a destination for many travellers looking for a different alternative to the traditional, tourist hotels of the island. After falling into oblivion, it has been painstakingly restored. Even the smallest details have been carefully taken into account, in order to offer travellers a welcoming and comfortable location. Each room received an exclusive design and all of them are fully equipped and combine elements of minimalist design with antique furniture of the island. Its decoration surprises with pieces and materials arrived from various corners of the world, and consequently, give each room a distinct style with a special atmosphere.
In the country Hotel Las Calas pets are allowed on request. Wifi is available and free of charge.
